SanctionsOur Compliance teams help create a level playing field for advertisers by ensuring the findings of upheld ASA rulings are implemented by all advertisers who may be affected. They also survey trends across different sectors and proactively address ads they find that breach the rules.

    If advertisers continue to place ads that break the Code or seem to be deliberately refusing to work within the self-regulatory system, we take repeat offender action against them.

    We have several sanctions that can be applied against advertisers who do not comply with the Code. These include ad alerts, CAP member intervention and poster pre-vetting. We may also refer advertisers to the Office of Fair Trading.
